Merry Hill Barn was in a poor state, having partially subsided together with a few other
structural issues. However, the building did have an amazing volume and a beautiful old oak
roof structure that was in relatively good condition.
The building itself is a Listed structure, in a conservation area, and an area of outstanding
natural beauty, located in a very remote location between the villages of Portesham and
Abbotsbury on the South Dorset Coast.
The scheme was to form a new holiday cottage and to make the most of the roof structure it
was kept exposed internally and the living areas were placed on the first floor. The ground
floor has five luxury bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms.
