The Surrey Institute of Art & Design appointed the Practice to develop purpose-built accommodation to house the Craft Study Centre, a unique collection of twentieth century British crafts, including ceramics, textiles, calligraphy and wood.
The accommodation comprises of four separate galleries, split over two levels as well as archival areas, office, retail space and a photographic studio.
The building has been designed as a stand-alone facility adjacent to the main approach of the campus. A double height entrance foyer has been incorporated with full height glazing to Falkner Road giving the Study Centre a distinct identity, improving the streetscape and creating a positive link between the institute and the town.
